The admissions department is the door to your future.
Starting your new career is a lot easier than you might think:
We’re local—Sawyer is here to serve you with five convenient locations
throughout Rhode Island and Connecticut: Providence, Pawtucket, Hamden,
Hartford, and Bridgeport. Each school is accessible by public transportation and
offers ample free parking. See our locations here.
We work hard to make it easy for you— Your admissions representative will help you complete the application for school, and a financial aid officer will help you apply for student aid.
Selecting the right school and program is an important and personal decision, so we encourage prospective students to visit our campus and discuss their needs with an admissions representative. You can schedule an appointment by calling one of our locations, or complete our contact us form.
During your visit, you’ll receive a tour of the facility and detailed information about our career programs. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet faculty members and staff from the career services and financial aid departments. In order for us to best put together the resources needed to make your transition back to school as successful as possible, you will also complete a brief skills assessment.
Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Your financial aid officer will explain the various kinds of grants, loans and payment plans that are applicable to your circumstances.
Applicants for all programs must either:
Applicants enrolling in programs under the Ability-to-Benefit umbrella must be at least 18 years of age, and either: take and pass a test approved by the U. S. Department of Education, or, complete six credits (six quarter hours) toward a certificate at the school. The six hours must be applicable to the certificate at the school, but not necessarily in the program the student intends to complete. These hour cannot be based on testing out for credit. Students cannot receive Title IV funds for the payment period that includes the six hours.
Applicants should schedule an interview with one of the admissions representatives at The Sawyer School. At this time the representative may provide a tour of the facility and discuss the School’s programs in relation to the applicant’s career goals, training needs, and individual motivations. The applicant may then fill out an application for admission and apply for financial aid. The admissions representative will administer a skills assessment test to determine the applicant's level of proficiency. At the time of enrollment, the student must sign an enrollment agreement, a transcript release form, and a form attesting to his/her graduation from high school.
In accordance with Federal laws and regulations, The Sawyer School does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, gender, religion, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or handicap in the recruitment and admission of students. It also does not discriminate in the administration of its educational policies, scholarships, financial aid programs, or in any of the other activities and programs generally accorded to students at the school.
The insitution extends training to the disabled; however, suitable employment is considered when counseling students prior to admission.
Being out of a job may be temporary, but an education is forever. Summer has gone and Fall has arrived. Take advantage of our open enrollment.
New classes are starting soon, so give us a call to set up an appointment and tour our schools!

"As long as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher, so after high school graduation I attended Rhode Island College. After a few weeks of attending, I realized it was not for me. I felt lost and confused, so I researched some other options and found the Sawyer School. I enrolled in The Medical Assistant Program and graduated with honors. The Sawyer School worked with me throughout my program. They had small classes which I needed. I am now working for an Internal Medicine office and utilizing my skills I learned from The Sawyer School."
